A “Chrysalis” is a life cycle stage between a caterpillar and a butterfly. Chrysalis refers to both the stage and the pupa itself. It is a sort of protective covering for the butterfly and is similar to a cocoon.
The universe is in a constant state of development. Transition is a “Chrysalis” in the universe of moving to adulthood. Our students with disabilities develop from being children and adolescents to young adults. We protect and teach them as long as we can, providing them opportunities to establish skill sets, until they are ready to leave their cocoon and fly out on their own, equipped with the skills and support necessary for them to be contributing members of our communities.
