This is an interesting article in the Essex Chronicle on a program in the UK for students with severe disabilities preparing for a college experience.
DAME Angela Watkinson MP has officially opened a state-of-the-art learning centre that was once a caretaker’s bungalow.
Havering College of Further and Higher Education opened The Bungalow, a specialist centre for students with severe learning disabilities, including those on the autistic spectrum, on Friday.
The college has worked in partnership with Havering Council to transform the former caretaker’s house at the Quarles Campus in Harold Hill.
The Bungalow will allow more learners with complex needs to stay within Havering for their further education after leaving school at 16.
